Built Out, Landlocked, and Full of Older Rooftop Systems

Tempe is landlocked, about 40 square miles with no room to sprawl, and solar panel repair here mostly involves homes that have been around for a while. The city had 180,587 residents in 2020 and is home to Arizona State University's main campus. With no new land to build on, the housing stock is established, many homes have had solar added over the years, and some of them are rentals.

Landlords and rental homes

Rental homes with solar need someone to keep an eye on them. Tenants may not notice a failed inverter for months, and the owner only sees it when the utility bill climbs. We offer inspections that check production, inverter health and panel condition, and we explain the results in writing so you can plan repairs between tenants.

Buying or selling

When a home with solar changes hands, an inspection answers questions like: does the system work, what condition is it in, and is any part near the end of its life? Buyers and sellers both benefit from a clear answer before closing.

Removal and reinstall for older roofs

Tempe's established homes need roof work at some point, and solar has to come off first. We document the layout, remove and store the panels, and reinstall them on new flashed mounts after the roofer finishes. Then we test the system before we leave.

Lake, butte and heat

Tempe Town Lake was formed by damming part of the Salt River, and Hayden Butte, often called A-Mountain, rises to 1,495 feet, the city's high point. The city sits at about 1,181 feet. Summer heat here is the same as in central Phoenix, so inverters on sunny walls and wiring on hot roofs age faster. If your system cuts out on hot afternoons, we look for heat-related failures.

Your own city

Tempe has its own building department, separate from Phoenix. Permits for solar work that needs one go through the City of Tempe. We confirm requirements before starting that kind of job.
